Adilkhan Yerzhanov’s Four Films Are Participating in Film Festivals of Different Countries

In these three weeks four films of Adilkhan Yerzhanov are going to participate in film festivals of different countries. Hisfull-lengthdebutfilm Realtors will be screened as a part of “The Eurasian Space: XXI – Full-length Feature Debuts” Section of the Moscow National Film Festival “The Moscow Premiere” which will be held from October 29 to November 3. Thisfantasydramaabouttimetravellingandreconnecting with the roots was produced in 2011. The Russian cinephiles loved this film from the beginning. The “Art of the Cinema” Magazine called it “a national version of “Kin-dza-dza!”, taking us not to far away stars, but to our ancestors and family legends”.In 2011 “Realtor” was awarded by Special Jury Prize at the “KINOSHOCK” Film Festival. The Owners of 2014 is invited to be a part of International Art Festival DairaFest which will be help in St. Petersburg, in November. The film had a triumphant path at film festivals since its premiere at the 67th Cannes International Film Festival: nominations for the “NIKA” Russian Award and the Asia-Pacific Screen Awards, participation in more than 20 prestigious world film festivals such as Toronto, Busan, Warsaw, Moscow and more than 10 awards. This surrealistic tragicomedy about two brothers and a sister, trying to defend their house, was included in the 100 Best Asian Films catalogue, published in 2015 by the Busan International Film Festival.

Night God will be screened at the Denver Film Festival which will be held from October 30 to November 10. This auteur fantasy drama of 2018 had its premiere at the 40th Moscow International Film Festival. The world press found something common with films of Andrei Tarkosky and Aleksei Yuryevich German. The film tells a story of a tired man, wandering with his teenage-daughter in the maze of a deserted city where everybody in fear awaits the appearance of some mythical being, Night God.A legendary film critic Jonathan Rosenbaum described the film as “a spellbinder by a master of sound and image and a poet of dispossession”.

And the director’s one of the new films of 2019 A Dark, Dark Manparticipates in the 7thBosphorus Film Festival which currently takes places in Istanbul.  Thisnoirthrillerhad its world premiere at the 67th San Sebastian Film Festival and already was screened at the festivals in Busan and Bergen.

The films “Realtors”, “TheOwners” and “NightGod” were produced by the Kazakhfilm film studios with participation of the Short Brothers Film Company. “A Dark, Dark Man” was produced by the Astana Film Fund with participation of the Short Brothers and Arizona Productions.
